Certificates of attendance are suitable for use to meet professional development requirements for educators and clinicians. Attendees can earn up to 20 contact hours of credit by attending the five-day institute. See details on the number of hours and types of credit below.
In order to receive any professional development credits, you must fill out the evaluation/learning outcomes questionnaire which will be e-mailed at the conclusion of the course. Certificates will be emailed to you 2-3 weeks after the institute.

Credits for Speech/Language Pathologists
The program offers 1.7 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level; Professional area).
SLP participants will be able to
Describe the brain basis of typical reading acquisition and reading disorders, such as dyslexia
Review the recent advances in the psychological basis of reading difficulty
Interpret education neuroscience results and understand how neuroimaging tools work
Discuss neuroscience research to help predict reading outcomes and the response to interventions
Define how reading acquisition and disorders differ across languages
Evaluate the relevance of neuroscience research for students and teachers and how to be a critical consumer of neuroscience regarding the reading brain
John D.E. Gabrieli, PhD, is a neuroscientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a member of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research. He is a faculty member in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Director of the Martinos Imaging Center, and a Member of the Faculty of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Joanna D. Christodoulou, EdD, works at the intersection of education and neuroscience. She is an Assistant Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions and a Research Affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ERI is able to provide credits that qualify for the education departments in most states and are accepted by most districts. You may wish to check whether your state's Department of Education requires a special approved provider status. Credits for Psychologists and School Psychologists
Educator Information Resources, Inc. (ERI) is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. ERI maintains responsibility for the program. Psychologists and school psychologists must complete the evaluation form in their program book in order to receive credits. This program will provide 20 hours of CEs.
Credits for School Social Workers
Upon request Learning & the Brain, can apply for 17.5 Category I credits to social workers through the Collaborative of the National Association of Social Workers - MA Chapter (NASW-MA) and both the Boston College and the Simmons College Schools of Social Work upon request. **Please check with your state chapter to ensure that these credits are applicable to your state standards.** If you wish to receive these credits, please reach out in advance of the conference so that we can apply.
